As most of our readers guessed correctly, we visited Yellowstone National Park last week. Besides the last two days when night temperatures went below zero Celsius, the weather was just perfect for camping and hiking at the park. I rented a tent (a.k.a. pop-up) camper, which is something like an RV, except the walls are made out of a thin “tent” material and the unit is quite compact and lightweight for transportation. Since the weather forecast was telling me good temperatures and excellent weather, it made sense to try out a tent camper, which is much cheaper to rent compared to regular RVs. In addition, I didn’t want to drive an RV inside the park, so once we set up the unit at the campsite, we drove our car inside the park. It was a good move as we at times had problems finding regular parking spots, let alone an RV.
Long story short, the trip was simply awesome! We had a lot of fun and we came back with over 3,000 pictures, which I have been trying to sort through since last Wednesday. There are so many good pictures, that I decided to post them under several different categories:
- Textures
- Geysers and hot springs
- Nature and landscapes
- Wildlife
- Family Fun
By the way, since it was a family trip and not a dedicated photography trip, pretty much all photographs were shot hand-held. Most of the time I didn’t even have time to compose, so most of these images are what I call “DSLR point and shoots”. I wish I had the time to set up my tripod, compose and shoot during early mornings or late afternoons, but with my two boys that are constantly on the move, it wouldn’t happen no matter what :)
Stay tuned!
