My last image of the Western Meadowlark did not come out so well, so when I saw one today I decided to take a picture and see how it comes out. I think this one is better, with that green grass in the background. Spring almost seems to have made to Colorado, but as soon as I plan to go and take some pictures of the blooming trees, it freaking snows (it is currently snowing outside again). It will be cold and windy this weekend and I’m hoping for a better weather next weekend, because I have 5 wide-angle lenses to test!

Very nice! 200-400 & 1.4TC?
Yup, it is :) I’m thinking of selling my 200-400 to get a 500mm or 600mm VR next year.
Suppose there’ll be a 100-500mm f/4 or something similar coming out soon?
Aaron, it’s just a rumor for now :) I’m hoping for an updated Nikon 300mm f/4.0 AF-S with VR – my dream lens.
Yeah, adding VR to 300 f/4 would rock! To the 24-70 f/2.8 (my favorite lens) too. I suspect they’ll be releasing quite a few f/4 lenses with VR over the next 2yrs. Even without VR, I can’t get over how clean high ISOs are getting on these cameras. Your image is jaw dropping.
Aaron, I wish the 24-70mm f/2.8 had VR too, but it ain’t gonna happen, at least not anytime soon :(
Yes, I am also hoping for more f/4 lenses. Nikon really needs to provide some low-cost alternatives of the pro-level lenses…there is so much potential in that market. Just take a look at how popular the Canon 70-200mm f/4 IS is – Canon sells a lot more of those than the f/2.8 version.
Thank you Aaron!
mmm, my dream lens, drop me a mail…..
if you consider selling your 200-400mm.
uh,uh, Nikon Rumors just announced a new version… wonder how much better it will be:

If it is like the new 70-200 AFS VRII it will be sensational.
Pasquier, writing a quick article as we speak. Nothing has changed, except for VR. Will post in 10-15 mins.
Dear Mr. Mansurov,
Could you spoil the surprise and reveal which 5 WA lenses are you testing?
Thanks for the time and energy you put into your blog.
EM, sure :)
Here are the five lenses:
1) Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G
2) Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8G
3) Nikon 16-35mm f/4.0G VR
4) Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8D
5) Nikon 24mm f/1.4G
Obviously, the most tested focal length will be 24mm :)
