Oldies and weirdies

During our 4000 mile trip, we encountered a lot of interesting subjects. It’s too bad that we didn’t have enough time to stop and take pictures of them… I did, however, stop in a couple of interesting locations and took some pictures – Route 66 was one of them.

White Building

Utah is full of beautiful places and this little town near Zion was exceptionally rewarding.

Denver Tech Center

This new monument is built in Denver Tech Center, which I guess represents all the construction efforts that were put into creating the DTC.

Downtown Denver Fireworks

We didn’t do anything interesting on the 31st of December (since I was working my ass off at work and had to come to work on the 1st to process the first payroll out of SAP), so I took my family to Downtown Denver for the New Year fireworks show.

Well, I guess after seeing the 4th of July and Disney World fireworks, I had high expectations, to say the least. I don’t know if the city of Denver under-budgeted this year for the fireworks, or perhaps it has something to do with the economy – but the show sucked bad. Fireworks lasted only for about 15 minutes total with weird interruptions in between and it felt like people were standing on the roofs shooting home-made explosives from the buildings. Nothing went high up in the sky, everything was low and puny…

Colorful glass

Khilola and I played with some light yesterday (while the kids were asleep) and here is what we came up with:

Blue Glass

Red Glass

The above “light painting” was done with a camera on a tripod, a flashlight and a set of gels in a very dark room. My version is the one on the left and Khilola shot the one on the right.

Dragonhand

My friend Max tried to grab the Dragonfly and I snapped a picture. The dragonfly obviously flew away, so it wasn’t hurt :)

The Royal Gorge train

This picture is from our last trip to the Royal Gorge Bridge. We got out right on time, just before it started to rain and I snapped this photo of the “Rio Grande” train that was on display in front of the entrance.

Abandoned House

Got this shot on our way back from the Black Canyon National Park:
