  1. I love this sunset shot with your 14-24mm. My question is about lens/camera combos. I too have a D300 and love it. I use a Nikon 10-24mm for landscapes and very wide shots. But on the 14-24mm..do you notice that if you shoot slightly up at something or down at something you get that slight “fisheye” or bend effect in your pictures? I see a little of that in your picture here. I like that effect! Just wondering if you shoot with that effect in mind when using that lens. I’m thinking about getting a 14-24mm and a 70-200mm for most all around shooting soon. Thanks…great site! DK

      Thank you Dave!

As far as the fisheye/bend effect – absolutely! Whenever you go wider than 24mm, you will almost always get that effect. You should also be getting the same distortion effect with your 10-24mm DX (which is a phenomenal lens, btw), especially on the wider end. 14-24mm is a professional-grade lens and is definitely a step-up from your 10-24mm. However, if you will continue to use your D300, I personally do not see the point of upgrading to the 14-24mm, since you are already covered in that range. In fact, with your current lens you can shoot wider than you would be able to if you had the 14-24mm, so you should keep that in mind.

If you are planning to purchase the 70-200mm lens, I would wait and get the new 70-200mm VRII that’s coming out this November…

      Hope this helps.

      Sincerely,
      Nasim
