Upside-Down Nectarine Cake is very delicious, soft and easy to make. It is so upsetting to buy fruits that smell great but taste like paper. Even if you go organic, there is never a guarantee that fruits you buy will beat the “sweet” standards. At times like these, I often recall our local bazaars back home, where we could try the fruit before buying it.
Fruit and Cheese Bars
I mean – YUM! Of course you do need to like either the ricotta cheese or the farmer’s cheese for this recipe (ehm, made out of skim milk). In our family, we love both. You have to try these Fruit and Cheese Bars! Every time I have farmer’s cheese in my refrigerator, I know what to use it for! Choices are countless. I hope to share it all with you one by one. This particular recipe has three layers of fruits. Favorite of my children and those who like fruity desserts. Please let me know if you like any of the recipes. I love feedback! :)
Lemon Scented Pull Apart Coffee Cake
This loaf-like dessert with a long name of “Lemon Scented Pull Apart Coffee Cake” is my sister’s favorite. We always make it when she is in town. For some reason, it comes out twice as good with her involvement. I say, she has her own ways with this cake :P This particular dessert is soooo fluffy, so lemony (at time orangy) and with the cheese icing, it is hard to find a substitution for it! Irresistible!
Banana Cake
Here is the deal. We buy bananas because at times our children eat a lot of them. But next time we buy them almost all of them end up in the trash! If you find yourself in a similar situation, your best bet is to bake something with bananas in order to avoid the shameful waste. Ultimately, this banana cake will come in handy. Unlike famous banana breads out there, this banana cake is moist due to the usage of less flour and addition of yogurt. What could be more pleasant than not wasting perfectly fine bananas and enjoying an amazing dessert?
Stawberry-Apple Galette Recipe
Honestly, I love, love, love this Strawberry-Apple Galette! If you do not love it back, I do not want you in my blog for three days! Yes, you will be punished for not sharing the awesomeness… I am just kidding. But seriously, try it out, you will not regret it!
Unlike the Eggplant Casserole night (and fortunately for me), I stayed away from mischief in my kitchen this time. Except I had to bake the Galette at 11PM. That’s when my two punks went to bed, leaving my kitchen all in my own discretion.
I had leftover apples from the fall season and I also had some pretty nasty-tasting strawberries in the refrigerator. No, not from the fall season :) So, why on earth were they nasty? Well, my husband bought the strawberries for the boys. They really like their fruits at times, but not the ones that are off-season and tasteless. You should have known better, daddy :) He politely asked me to use these “wanna be” strawberries in one of my pies. I did not want to waste the berries, so I accepted the challenge and here is the result:
Apple Pie with Dried Fruit
During our curtain hanging process a couple of weeks ago, we discovered a treasure hidden in a box, at the far corner of the balcony. It is not money, jewelry or an expensive artifact of any type. But the long road my husband travels to buy these delicious honey crisp apples is priceless. I was shocked that I forgot about their existence in our house. Surprisingly, honey crisp apples hold up pretty well, for up to 5 months, if stored properly.
Berry Cheesecake Recipe
We were invited for a dinner last week and I decided to take on another challenge by baking this amazing cheesecake. I will be honest, I was scared. While I plan to take on this recipe over and over again, I decided to put out the step-by-step recipe of my first attempt to make cheesecake, since it came out that good. I couldn’t wait to share this Cheesecake Recipe!
By the way, if you have ever tasted the Whole Foods cheesecake, you will definitely love this recipe, because it tastes the same, if not better :)
Blueberry Muffin Recipe
I have tried many recipes to make those perfect home-made blueberry muffins. After trying this recipe of Flo Braker, I am 100% sure that I will never try another recipe! This is it! This is the real deal! This is the bomb!.. You can tell that I can brag on forever about my blueberry muffins. On top of that my favorite part is the doughnut topping which places this recipe somewhere between muffins and doughnuts. Don’t believe me? I dare you to try this recipe :)
My latest trend is to take pictures step-by-step – I figured that it is much easier for my readers to follow them. These muffins are not hard at all. In fact, you do not even need a mixer. It is so simple, you will fall in love with your oven and your kitchen again. Talking about boost of confidence and energy to cook more!
Gulab Jamun Recipe
I first tasted this dessert at our favorite Indian restaurant after my husband insisted that it was very good. I immediately liked it since the taste reminds me of Turkish desserts like baklava, revani and Kemalpasa. Since then, I have tried to make Gulab Jamun multiple times at home. It is a very simple dessert, but I admit that it took me at least 6 tries to make it the way it is supposed to be! This is a step-by-step recipe, so please follow all of the steps carefully and look at the pictures as a reference.
Cottage Cheese and Sour Cherry Pie Recipe
My mother-in-law gave me two dessert recipes for us to enjoy (actually, I begged for them myself :D). They are both her signature desserts. I loved the way the recipes felt when I read them. Yeaaah, I can imagine the dish or the dessert just by reading the recipe! :) The first one was “Black Cake” – I will post the recipe of it sometime next week. The second recipe was this one.
