Recently my husband posted some pictures from our trip to Crested Butte. I decided to follow his footsteps and document my perspective of a couple of days that we spent on the road.
My humble pictures were mostly taken with the Nikon D90, the camera which we loved to use. The subjects, of course, weren’t too shabby either :) I was lucky to shoot a lot of good subjects and decided to put out some of them. What I love in being a female photographer, is that it is much easier to approach people on the streets and ask them if I can snap a picture of them.
My interaction with most people I shot that day was mainly wordless. With a wide smile that my face can possibly produce, my head gently tilted to the left (I AM A LEFTY) pointing to my camera, I gestured people to pose for me. They didn’t disappoint me. After I photographed them, I obviously went on talking to them and giving them my e-mail address in case they wanted their pictures…and, I would forget to introduce myself almost every single time. Even though my card did have all the information about me, I was a little embarrassed for not being considerate enough. I mean, who wants to be on the blacklist of unethical people of Dale Carnegie? Not to mention that I never asked for their names either :(
If my mysterious subjects are reading my post, please consider this as my reintroduction of myself to you: I am glad I had a chance to photograph you in this beautiful town. It was indeed very nice to meet you. Your pictures came out great and I hope you will let me do the honor of sending them to you ;)
The first three pictures were taken in Snowmass, CO (including top picture). The town had a balloon launch at 8:30 in the morning. Knowing how much Omar loves balloons, we went there right away. Well, looking at his face you can probably tell that he was simply mesmerized. Osman started walking assisted pretty much that day.
Here, my fellas were posing as firefighters. I say pretty darn hot firefighters they are!
This is what Omar does every time he sees water. Throwing stones into the water is slowly becoming a family heritage, passing on to new generations! I remember this one time when Omar was nearly filling a pool with stones while I was drying up his brother. It took me sometime to take out those rocks out of the water. Of all things possible my son finds this pretty amusing! Especially the part where the rock hits the water making the “plump” noise. That’s is his favorite part!
Crested Butte is one of the most colorful and lively towns I have ever been to. I felt like I was in the middle of a fairy tale.
This is one of my favorite photos of the day! Omar was a little cranky that day since everything was not going his way. Colors did match his mood perfectly though :P
Here I pictured myself jumping up and down and doing silly faces! I find this spot perfect for taking portrait pictures.
I saw these girls walking down the street and took their picture. Before my oh-so-not-cool introduction, everything was FINE!
I just kept on imaging how cool it would be to put a couple in the middle of this field and shoot away! A dream location, I would say.
I have many more pictures of this cute couple from San Francisco. You guys, send me your e-mails so that I could forward your pictures to you. They were amazingly photogenic, fun and very cooperative. I wish we had more time to photograph them.
Love is B E A U T I F U L ! Making it as colorful as Crested Butte is the least we can do to help it grow…

I wanted to ask you if you actually knew the lollipop girls ?
or you just asked them to pose?

Diyor, I just gestured them to pose for me and they did :)
