Malika: Portrait
When I first met Malika, she was only 4 months old. Omar was only a couple of weeks old when Malika and her dad came over to see him. It was love from the first sight! Yes, I fell in love with this little bundle of big joy. She had the biggest brown eyes one could imagine. Her curly blond hair and joyful laugh made me want to get pregnant all over again just to have a little girl :D Well, it all happened, but I ended up with another boy, LOL! Every time I see Malika, I still ask my husband if we should give it another try. As much as he adores baby girls, he thinks we've had enough, at least for now!
Malika is smart, happy, bubbly, energetic and super fantastic to work with. I could take her pictures for hours and have fun at the same time! Even her name is very majestic. Malika means "Queen" in Uzbek language.
We had a very hard time choosing photographs for this entry and these are the ones we chose for now.
One of my favorite shots of the day:
She came for the shoot from her first dance class. She was not tired at all. She got a little hungry and asked her Dad to give her pretzels. While she was enjoying her pretzels my husband caught some funny moments.
Apparently, Malika likes the Center Park where we were shooting. Being a queen required her to have her own castle. She knew exactly of whereabouts of her castle and walked us to it with great pleasure.
And that's how the Queen laughs. Aren't these just fantastic? :) You've got to love her heart-dot-dress!
Here she was asking me if I was eating anything. I told her that I was chewing a gum. She said that it looked like I was eating something. Indeed my jaw was hurting bad as if I was gobbling down food for hours. I think I just got carried away with my gum for some time there. I got rid of the gum and reminded myself that children are the most honest and straightforward beings on earth. Love you Malika!
What a giggle!
So we picked some flowers! She shared flowers with everyone.
Every little girl and every little queen needs her own pedestal :)
How about some rain tasting? Malika said it was delicious!

shams: What do you mean by “normal flashes”? If you mean in camera pop-up flashes, then no, we almost never use pop-up flashes. The above pictures were taken with a combination of natural light and external Nikon flashes. We mostly used natural daylight for the above photos though.

Thanks for the comments guys!
Yenge, some children like Malika are naturals :) but you do need to work with them in order to get the right shots.
After we get good at it, I will post our way of working with little children.
