Juvenile Swainson’s Hawk

I noticed this juvenile Swainson’s Hawk while driving today. When I approached him, he stood still and did not move. This fledgling fell off the nest – there were no nearby branches or bushes, so he was just waiting for his parents to take care of him. I immediately called local wildlife control and they said they normally do not dispatch anyone out when wild birds fall off their nests. After about two hours, I came back to the site and he was gone. It was too dark to see if he was back in the nest, so I will check back tomorrow. Hopefully he is doing great and will soon learn how to fly!
