Grand Canyon National Park was supposed to be the last destination before heading back home on our trip. We only had one day to cover both the Antelope Canyon and the Grand Canyon National Park, realizing that we would not be able to see much of the Grand Canyon. We left the town of Page, AZ at around 12 PM and stopped at the Horseshoe Bend to take some pictures. During our tour of the Antelope Canyon, the locals told us that the North Rim of the Grand Canyon was just as beautiful as the South Rim and that it was a much shorter drive. Trying to save some time, we drove to the North Rim…stupid me, should have first checked if it was even open at this time of the year. Apparently, the park service closes the North Rim until May every year because of the snow and ice. We had to get back on the road and drive south towards the South Rim, losing at least 3 hours. When we arrived at the park, the sun was already setting and we were only able to stop at two spots to take a look at the Grand Canyon. We were disappointed, because we were out of time and could not stay at the park for another day. To slightly balance things out, we went to the visitor center, had some dinner and watched the Grand Canyon movie in IMAX (which was awesome, btw). Omar loved it and he watched it all the way to the end, while Osman was sleeping :)
Speaking of IMAX, we recently went to “Monsters vs Aliens” in IMAX 3D and Omar absolutely loved it! It was his 3rd show in 3D (we went to see “Muppets 3D” and “Honey, I shrunk the kids” in Disney) and he watched it all the way to the end.
