Sergey just sent these shots that he took of me while we were hiking and taking pictures at the Great Sand Dunes:
I was primarily shooting hand-held because it was very windy and setting up the tripod on the sand wasn’t very practical :)

Классные фотки урток. Пустыня это единственное место где есть начало и конец всего и можно долго сидя на песке думать и размышлять.
Beautiful photos. Did you protect your camera from the sand? I have been there once and decided that once was enough, but seeing your photos…..I am thinking I may need to go. Love the light!
Janel,
Thanks so much for your feedback! No, I didn’t protect my camera from the sand, but I do admit that cleaning the camera with the lens was a nightmare afterwards. My sensor was so dirty that I had to wet clean it…
You should definitely go there again, I’m in love with the dunes now! :)
Nassin, how would you protect your camera from the sand? Last month I went to Lençóis Maranhenses (Brazil) and I almost spoiled my camera. Do you have any article regarding cleaning and maintenance? Another issue is how to clean the lenses when it wets with drops of beach water.
Eduardo, I have just come back from a trip to Yellowstone…life has been too busy to be able to post a detailed guide on maintaining and cleaning camera gear. Hopefully will do it this week.
