Dear Nasim,

I have been reading your articles for a long time now. I current use a humble point and shoot Fuji S5700. However, I wish to upgrade to a DSLR soon. Coming to the point, I am confused between D3100, D500 & D90. I know you would they are miles apart...however, I wish to buy a camera which I intend to use for some years to come before I may again switch to an FX format. I am an HR professional and do not wish to take up photography as a serious profession. You may call me a serious enthusiast though. I hope I am able to explain my requirement here. Looking fwd to your comments and help.

Ohh btw...you rock! Would say anything more than that...

Hi

You say "with a 1.5x larger field of view on DX sensor". This should be "with a 1.5x narrower field of view on a DX sensor"

I have noticed that sometime this month Nikon will be announcing a replacement of the d90. It is supposed to be the d7000. I've noticed the pricing of the d90 seems to be dropping. Should I wait it out to see what the d7000 will be like or not worry about it and go with the d90?

What do you think about the newest specs on the d7000? I'm a beginner and so I'm wondering if I should just stick with the d90 compared to what it seems to be a more advanced d7000.

Thanks for your help!

Salam nasim,
Just want to share something, I had bought an off camera flash last week branded nissin Di622; it’s a third party product which suitable for my d3000. I’m really happy with the end result. The light spread evenly thought out the picture. I’ve took many pictures of my family especially my lovely daughter. I’m looking forward to use the remote system (basic using single flash) but still lack of knowledge (tips & tricks / positioning / best ways) in this. Do you have any suggestion or helpful links that I can refer to.

I purchased my Nikon D5000 with the hopes of taking great photo's. It set in its box unused for nearly six months, like many of ones possessions. I had the best intentions, but never took the time to pursue what I thought would give me an outlet to a quite dysfunctional life. After ending a relationship of almost 15 years, and having to start my life all over, I finally picked my Nikon up... I have not put it down since. It opened a whole new world for me. I finally started seeing the beauty not only in things around me,but also in myself. It has been a lot of trial and errors and a continuos learning experience. It has taught me the camera does not take the perfect photo, it is the person behind the lens. I love my camera!! It has given me a outlet to find a place i can relax, and express my creative side, a feeling of inner peace and happiness while doing so. Needless to say I am no longer afraid of my camera and it has gotten alot of use!!!

Hi Nasim,
Just found this site and I have to tell you that it is amazing! Very well designed, there are lots of easy to understand articles, so really I have seen lot of useful photography hints here

I'm also a keen lightning photographer, and made some experiment already on this topic. I would like to share my blog with you where I also write about the lightning photography (maybe not in the same professional manner than you do): http://nagybela75.blogspot.com/2008/06/shooting-lightning.html

I'm based in Debrecen, Hungary and we have some time-slot in the year, from late June to end of August where we can experience some really hard thunderstorms and I'm lucky, because I just put my tripod out to the balcony and use my IR remote control on my D50 and try to catch the lightning.
One of my dreams are to take some pics in US, I've heard that there are some really heaving lightning in Arizona...

Best Regards,
Bela Nagy

Hi Nasim,
I have Nikon D90 + 18-105vr + 35mm f1.8. In future I might purchase a few more lenses but I don't think I will ever buy a heavy lens like 70-200 f2.8 or 300 f4 hence the overall weight of my camera plus lens would not go more than 2 KG. I am thinking of buying a tripod. My budget is around $200. I am considering the following:

Benro A-600EX tripod legs (Weight: 1.77 KG, Load capacity: 8KG):
And Benro BH-2 ballhead

I can also consider Manfrotto's basic model 055XPROB (Weight: 2.4KG, Load capacity: 8KG) with Manfrotto 496 RC2 ballhead.

Marfortto's tripod and ballhead will cost me approximately twice that of Benro's. Do you think that I should spend that extra amount and buy Manfrotto's system? What is your overall impression of Benro?

Hi Nasim,
I, like many of your blog readers that already posted, am new to the DSLR world. I've done a bit of research on other sites, and finally decided, after reading this post, to go with the D5000. However, when I went to price around on sites, all of a sudden I am seeing a new NikonD3100 14.2-Megapixel Digital SLR Camera that you can pre-order. I used the "compare" feature on bestbuy.com's website to look at the cameras side-by-side, and now I am more confused than ever!! Have you heard anything about this? What are your opinions?
Thanking you in advance for your opinion!

Greetings. A terrific article for a new Lightroom user. I am using Lightroom 3 however and I do not seem to get the same Dialog boxes which you display in your article. I am able to find most of the settings in the new layout but the most important thing in my opinion, the ability to rename the folders when you choose By Date under organize, does not seem to work in LR3. I cannot click on the folders and rename them before the Import. Do you have any suggestions or am I missing something? Thank you.
