Colorado Fall Colors: Part 2
This is part 2 of the "Colorado Fall Colors" photo tour with Sergey (click here to see the first part). We started the second day in Aspen, then went back south and took some back country roads all the way to Buena Vista and then finally home.
Obviously, our theme was "Aspen", so we took a lot of pictures of aspens in their beautiful fall colors.
Unfortunately, most aspens were still yellow/golden and it was a little too early for the darker red that I was able to capture last year:
Oh well, I bet by now all the trees have already lost their leaves, since it snowed and was very windy last week.
Don't know the name of this mountain, but I found this spot and we took lots of pictures of the area (I will post some panoramic images tomorrow). The sad part is, many of these beautiful spots are private property and they have big "DO NOT TRESPASS" signs all over the place...
We saw this beautiful spot from the road and decided to hike a little to see if there were any good photo opportunities.
It's a good thing we did!
We were finally able to find some red aspens, but the timing was bad, as the sun was creating some challenging light...
These last three images were captured right before sunset. When you are really high up in mountains, the sun can sometimes create some very beautiful light before it sets. It was very cold and windy, but the last 15 minutes of sunset created this dark red color that spilled onto the trees, bushes and everything else around us. The below images might look a over-saturated, but that's how red the whole scene actually was!
If you look at the lower side of the below image, you will notice a line that separates red bushes from green. Well, all bushes there had similar colors! The lower side of the image is the shadow cast by my car, which revealed the true colors of the bushes. I should have taken a picture after sunset to make a comparison!
Hope you liked these. More to come tomorrow.
