Happy New 2009 Year!
Photo library reorganization
I finally imported all of my photographs into Lightroom and cleaned up my photo library! There were so many photographs, that it took me almost two weeks to get everything organized the way I wanted.
I still have too many bad photos that need to be deleted. I don’t like to waste space, so I typically get rid of duplicates and blurry photos. Once I’m done, I will copy the Lightroom folder into my external drive and will be overwriting it every once in a while…
Lots of great photographs from recent trips will be posted soon, so stay tuned!
Back from the Black Canyon Ntl Park, sick
Just came back from a 4 day trip to the Black Canyon National Park. We drove through Glenwood Springs, then to Aspen, then back to Glenwood and finally to Montrose. Then, drove back to Denver through Gunnison, Salida and Fairplay.
Besides getting sick and laying in bed miserably for the last 24 hours, the trip was superb. The Black Canyon is not for those who are afraid of heights though! There were multiple spots where if you look down it got pretty darn scary…just imagine looking down 2800 feet into the canyon! I got some good pics of the canyon that I will be posting as soon as I get out of the bed.
As far as photography goes, besides some good landscape pictures, I did not have a good photo shoot. Every time a golden eagle or some other predator showed up, I would not have my long lens with me and by the time I got to the car and back – the birds would be gone. This happened several times, but I did not get too frustrated, because it was a family trip, not a photography trip :) While driving through the north side of the Black Canyon we saw quails, pheasants, eagles, hawks, kestrels, merlins – you name it! I got a couple of good bird pics that I snatched from the car, which I will also be posting soon, so stay tuned!
What a Photo Walk!
What a great Photo Walk it was! Thanks to all who participated in the Boulder Photo Walk! Despite the hot weather, rain and high humidity, it was a great event and our group already decided that we will definitely do it again. We had a lot of fun, learned from each other and shared wonderful photography stories at the end of the day. Looks like Scott Kelby already announced this Photo Walk as the first annual event, which means there will be Photo Walks taking place every year!
The Boulder Photo Walk Flickr page already has some photos and I am waiting for a lot more to come sometime tomorrow.
Worldwide Photo Walk!
If you are a photographer and want to gather some people for shooting around your city, participate in the Worldwide Photo Walk! It is a free event and is organized by Scott Kelby. Scott will be giving out free books to organizers of photo walks and to those who make it to the top with their photos. The grand prize includes a $500 gift card from B&H, full versions of Adobe Creative Suite 3 and Adobe Lightroom 2 that has just been released + other cool toys and software.
I will be either participating in the Denver Photo Walk or will organize my own in another area. This should be a cool event, so sign up in your city or create your own group :)
Our second son
As I posted before, we have been blessed with a second child. We named him Usman (also known as Osman, Othman and Ottoman). As promised, here is the latest pic taken today.
Christian the Lion
My cousin sent me this link and it almost made my cry… There are so many stories about how lions kill their owners and cannot be pets. After watching this video, my conclusion is – I guess it all depends on how well you treat them. Unfortunately, animals do get abused pretty often, including lions. Could that be the reason why they end up killing their owners, just because they cannot tolerate the abuse? True, there is animal instinct that flows through the DNA, but cats, dogs, foxes and many other animals also have it and it doesn’t necessarily mean that they use it against people…
I’m a double daddy now!
Yes, I’m a double daddy now! Baby Osman was born on the 18th of June at 7:31 am, 6 pounds 14 ounces! Thank God he is in great health and mommy is also recovering pretty quickly.
