I had a hard time picking my favorites and I'm sure I didn't do a good job, but anyway - here are the non-raptor bird pics that I liked from 2009:

Hi Nasim,
These pictures (as well as others on this web site) are stunning! How do you typically shoot these – hand-held or with a tripod? What aperture setting do you use or doesn’t that matter so much when shooting from a distance? It would be interesting to understand some of the technical details behind these wonderful pictures. I’m looking forward to the weather warming up here in a couple of months to shoot some birds as they return with my new camera.

Prem, thank you! Most of my shots are hand-held and I shared my techniques for bird photography in the article “how to photograph birds” that I wrote a while ago.
