The Province of Bukhara

Province of Bukhara has rid mineral resources. Natural gas, crude oil, graphite bentonite, marble, granitium, sulfur, lime and raw materials for construction deposits have been discovered in this territory. Enterprises for the production of construction material and power supplies work in this area using local resources. There are 52 joint ventures functioning in the Province. The most developed industrial activities are cotton purification, textiles and light industry. Traditional Uzbek crafts such as gold embroidery, ceramics and engraving have been revived. There are large oil and natural gas deposits around Kandim, Okkum, Parsonkul and other areas with an estimated amount of oil totaling 10 million tons and 220 billion cubic meters of natural gas. The country's largest oil processing plant operates in this area. It is possible for foreign investors to research and later exploit some of these rich deposits by establishing joint-ventures with local companies.

The city of Bukhara has a factory that processes Karakul pelts and also a very successful foodstuff industry. The most important agricultural products are cotton and cereals. The province also needs foreign investment in order to modernize existing businesses and small workshops. Bukhara is famous as a "living museum" and a center for international tourism. There are numerous historical and architectural monuments in and around the city and adjacent districts. The Greet Silk Road and other caravan routes ran through the ancient city of Bukhara. Its unique oriental buildings have been carefully restored. The city's tourist infrastructure meets international standards, including the airport which was recently reconstructed especially for the city's 2500th anniversary.
