The Province of Andijan

Industrial activities include mechanical engineering, metal processing, chemical processing, electro-mechanics, cotton purification, light industry, foodstuffs, flour-milling and forage industry. The first motor vehicle construction plant in Central Asia was opened in Asaka in the Andijan Province. The Uzbek-Korean joint venture, UzDAEWOO Auto, produces Nexia and Tico cars and the Damas minibus. Crude oil, natural and related gas is being extracted in the Province of Andijan. Gas pipelines running through Khodjabad-Andijan-Asaka and to other parts of the valley function effectively and reliably. Cultivation of crops takes place on irrigated lands exclusively. The main agricultural activities of the Province include cotton, cereal,  viticulture  and  vegetable gardening. There is an extensive irrigation system, based on a large man-made reservoir. In the area of animal husbandry, cattle breeding and sericulture is a very important  part  of the  Province's agriculture. The program for industrial development in the Province stipulates that existing industrial  enterprises  should   be modernized and reconstructed, new enterprises should be designed to produce using local raw materials.

Priority industries are light industry, chemical industry and processing industry. The area of mechanical engineering will significantly increase electromechanical and cable production. The local light industry should modernize cotton, wool, yarn and other textile production. The development of small and average private enterprises should be encouraged, taking into consideration local conditions and existing technologies. Agriculture production processing should be a high priority. The total length of railways is 200 km and more than 6,200 km roads. The province has regular flights to other towns in Uzbekistan.
