There are 37 electric power plants functioning in Uzbekistan, with a combined fixed capacity of 11,200 MW (heat power plants - 9,800 MW and hydroelectric
power plants - 1,400 MW with potential of 56-57 billion-kilowatt hours annually). Four of the heat power plants have a capacity of more than 100 MW. These include Sirdarya, New-Angren,
Tashkent and Navoi power plants. Talimardjan power plant, the largest heat power plant in Central Asia, with a designed 32,00 MW power is currently under construction. The Hydro Energy
Branch is represented by 28 hydroelectric power plants - the largest being Charvak with 620 MW. There are a total of 130 turbo and hydro aggregates installed at power stations, among
them are 37 up-to-date power units. Each block possesses a capacity of 150 to 300 o MW. The enterprises of the Ministry of Power Engineering and Electrification provide centralized
energy supplement to thirteen towns of the I republic, with the total fixed capacity of boilers equaling 6,200 Gigacalories per hour. The total length of circuits extends more than
227,000 kilometers with 33,900 kilometers of high voltage circuits with more than 35 KW capacity and 10,300 kilometers of cable power transfer lines. The fixed capacity of power
transformers exceeds 42,600 MW.
